Little Man

April 30, 2008

This little guy was just the most agreeable kid. We started the session and he just planted himself on my little red chair and smiled and said “cheese!” But I wanted to get some natural smiles out of him, too, so we had a little fun playing around the town green.

Fun Project: Grassheads

April 28, 2008

For a fun spring project, why not try a homemade grasshead?

You’ll need:
an empty yogurt container (or similar recyclable)
a knee-high stocking or regular stocking cut to knee-high length
grass seed
soil (we used a mix of sand, clay dirt, and potting soil)
decorations

1. Line the inside of the yogurt container with the stocking.
2. Add the grass seed to the bottom, inside the stocking.
3. Add half of the soil on top of grass seed.
4. Carefully pull stocking out of the container.
5. Continue to fill the stocking with soil.
6. Tie the stocking closed.
7. Decorate the face using non-water-soluble glue.
8. Fill the container with water,
9. Place the head on top, using part of the stocking above the knot as a wick to draw up water to the head.
10. Sprinkle the head with water and wait about a week for the bald head to grow “hair”.

Thanks to my daughter’s science teacher for showing us this fun and easy project!

Dandilion Wishes

April 23, 2008

I’m beginning to really love photographing families with more kids. Its so fun to see all the different personalities, and how they all interact. My family today had 2 brothers and 2 sisters. The littlest was such a great sport, and it was great to see how wonderful the older kids were with him.

Just look at those eyes!

April 19, 2008

This evening I had the chance to do a mini-session with this adorable little neighbor of mine. She is such a photogenic kid, and I love taking her photos. We stopped by the town green for our session, and enjoyed a little of the beautiful weather and spring flowers.

Modeling in the Gardens

April 17, 2008

We had some special dresses to photograph so I decided that we’d take the girls down to the local botanical gardens for a photoshoot. The tulips are in full bloom and are absolutely stunning.

Little Doll

April 11, 2008

I got to spend this morning with a very energetic little gal. But what a doll! At a little over one, she’s already running, and wanted to explore all of the wonders at the botanical gardens. It was a beautiful morning and we got to see frogs, ducks, geese, cherry blossoms, and lots of beautiful flowers. Here is just a little preview of our session. Announcing Painted Glow!

April 8, 2008

For the past several months I’ve been taking a course on painting using Corel Painter. I’m excited to soon be able to offer my clients digitally hand painted versions of their photographic portraits. They will be available printed on art paper or canvas. I will call this new line “Painted Glow”, since I think the painting allows you to add a little depth and texture and pull out the natural highlights. Here’s just a sneak peak of one I’ve been working on. It just needs a few finishing touches.
