I’m not sure which sister’s hair I loved more at this session: baby’s thick head of tiny curls, or big sis’s pom-pom pigtails. They were such an adorable pair. And their mom and dad were amazingly patient for having a newborn at home (can we say lack of sleep?) and a 2-year-old. We had great fun dressing both girls up with my studio stash of girlie accessories.

This family first contacted me months ago to schedule a spring Celebrating Adoption session, and it was nice to finally meet them this morning. It was clear that after 6 years of raising two boys mom was excited to dress up her little girl. I loved her curly-que bow and ruffly dress. It was also fun to see how protective her big brothers were of her–she definitely is the little darling of the family.

It’s just a few weeks until graduation and today we had a lovely afternoon for a family portrait to celebrate the milestone. I knew it they were a fun bunch when the guest of honor showed up wearing a tux shirt and plaid shorts. Hey, we just needed a headshot, right?

I’ve been so busy with sessions since I have been back from vacation that I didn’t get a chance to post a few pics from the trip. Here are a few of my favorites. The first is on the beach in Cabo San Lucas, and taken with my pocket camera. The second is on deck on the Disney Wonder. And the last set are from our day at Disneyland. The girls are sporting dresses from our favorite vacationwear designer: Ollie Girl!

What an adorable little guy this little brother is. He was a big 3-week-old, but so calm and sleepy for most of the session. His sweet not-so-big big sister was a great helper during our session, from helping to make mom and dad smile to bringing baby blankets.

Big brother was such a good sport during his sister’s photoshoot this morning. He played nicely and waited patiently as we tried to get this little one-month-old to catch some shuteye and pose for newborn portraits. But when he found my football prop, he was excited and was eager to play catch! We compromised by letting him take some of his own portraits with the football, and with his baby sister, too, of course!

This mom contacted me looking for some fun family portraits to celebrate her birthday. I won’t tell which birthday it is, but her sons are trying to give you a clue ; ) We have been trying for about a month to get this session in, and things kept coming up, so when the weather called for a 30% chance of rain, we decided to go ahead and chance it! Well it turns out that a cloudy, misty day kept most of the other visitors inside, and we practically had the botanical gardens to ourselves. We explored all around and everyone had a little fun along the way.

This little blue-eyed charmer was back for his 3rd session. I got to work with him first as a newborn, then last winter for his Valentine’s portraits, and again this week for his 8-month-old spring portraits. He decided to show us his more serious side for most of the session, but we were able to get him to crack a few smiles. I really love the one of him sitting in the buttercups. I think it would make a beautiful canvas.

Little brother came to my studio last October for his own photoshoot, and this spring he was back for a session with his brother. This time we got to enjoy the beautiful spring weather outdoors. They are both little charmers, full of mischievous grins and playful antics.

You’d never guess from these sunny portraits that we nearly postponed this session on account of the forecasted thunderstorms. It turns out that is was good we went ahead as planned because the passing storms never came! These children were so wonderful to work with, happily posing for me around their flowering garden.
