Birthday Photoshoot

May 27, 2009

In honor of my youngest’s birthday today, I grabbed the girls for some portraits in the studio.  The adorable birthday tutu set was a find a our local town fair last weekend.  The gals who sell them also have a website that’s totally worth checking out if you’re in the market for well-made tutus or bling tees:  Glitterbug Ballerina.   And while I was focused on getting pictures of the birthday girl, my older daughter grabbed one of my studio pettis, and my studio-mate’s blue chair, and came up with her own pose.   I love the pastel combo she came up with!

I’m excited to share the launch of a great collaboration between pattern maker Carla Crim and the fabric designer Jennifer Paganelli.  We were honored to be brought in on the project to photograph various versions of the new Sophie Tunic, and my little models are featured in the new ebook pattern, which is available through   It’s been so much fun working with these talented ladies!

Painted Butterfly Studio

Painted Butterfly StudioPainted Butterfly Studio

We received these beautiful mermaid dresses from Painted Butterfly Studio with matching bows from Bow a’la Mode and I just knew they had to be modeled at the beach.  Of course, we don’t live terribly close to the beach, so it was a little excursion for us.  The location is Chesapeake Beach, on the Maryland’s western shore of the Chesapeake Bay.  It’s only about an hour drive from Vienna.   It was much too cold for the water, but the girls had fun running barefoot on the beach and playing in the sand.

We have been having nice weather on and off, so we managed to do some outdoor modeling for thats*so*addie. This set is currently listed on eBay. I just love the colors.

We have been waiting for the weather to warm up so we could head outside and do some photos of this gorgeous cotton princess dress by Ollie Girl. I love her calico princesses, and this is one of her special line of “pixie dust” dresses.

I love Etsy!

February 21, 2009

Since my girls were babies, I have enjoyed outfitting them in handmade and custom clothing. I have done commercial photography for many designers, and although the custom boutique communty used to be very strong on Ebay, it seems that Etsy has taken over as the “place to be” for custom clothing. I love shopping there for hand-knit caps that I use as photography props, as well as unique gifts. Just tought I would share some of my photography that I’ve run across on recently on Etsy (and the great designers we’ve worked with):

Little Model

November 14, 2008

I got the opportunity to work with a fellow ebook author this morning. She had asked if she could bring her little model in and do some product shots for her books. What a cutie he is! Look for our photos on the You Can Make This site soon!
