This sweet little newborn had the most perfect head of hair.   He was so interested in our photoshoot that he was wide-eyed and awake for most of the session.  But even when he was awake he sat calmly and posed for us.  Finally near the end of the session we managed to convince him to take a rest, and got some photos of sleepy baby as well.

I have been photographing this family for a few years now, and I was excited to learn last summer that they would be adding a new little sister this month.   Big sis was such a great helper at our session, doing everything from posing for pics to calming baby.   And baby sister was just the perfect little model.  I was able to catch some of her cute baby grins as well as some rare open eyes.  I had share the adorable flower sisters pose–that one was big sis’s idea, and I think they look so sweet.

Now that my holiday sessions are done and most portraits orders have been distributed, I can relax and enjoy the newborn sessions that I have scheduled for this month.  This was the first of the newbies: a little 9-day-old baby girl.   Her mom loved her in pink and frilly, so we had a lot of fun playing with accessories.

This sweet little 5-day-old is one of the youngest newborns I’ve had the chance to get in the studio.  And as you might expect at such a young age, she was happily sleeping through most of the session.  It was fun to try out some of my newborn accessories with such a cooperative little girlie.

After a slow start to our session, this little cutie finally decided to catch some rest and pose for some newborn portraits.  And isn’t she a perfect little model?   The sock monkey pose was spontaneous idea at the end of the session, and ended up being one of my favorites.

This sweet little girl just came home from the hospital yesterday, and was in my studio this morning for portraits.  And there’s something to be said for bringing the babies when they just a few days old–she was incredibly easy-going and the session went so smoothly.    I just love that image with the stuffed animals!

I just loved this newborn brother-sister pair.  They were such great little subjects–both the sleepy, easy-going sister and the bright eyed, smiley brother made the 3 hours were spent working on their portraits seem to fly by.  The best part of the session, however, had to be when we managed to get them to snuggle in together.  I think they could have stayed sleeping there for hours!

This little newborn was the most wakeful little guy I’ve had in the studio for quite some time.  For over half of the session he was wide-eyed and we managed to get quite a few photos with him looking right at the camera.   I had fun playing around with his big brother, who was such a good sport at the studio.

This little baby girl is the tiniest little 5-month-old, and was the perfect little model for her first photoshoot this morning.   I enjoyed getting to chat with her mom and dad (who turned out to be neighbors of mine!) and incorporate all the handmade gifts they brought along into our portraits.   The last image I shared shows her laying on her own quilt, and that was just one of the many hats and blankets that her been lovingly made for her.



I got to meet this new mother and father last month when we did a maternity session to capture their last days before the became a family of three.  This week they were back again with their tiny baby girl.  It was so sweet to do some before/after comparisons from the two sessions.
