This petite one-year-old was just an adorable in both her fancy Christening gown and her yellow ruffles.   Mom told me that she wasn’t crawling much, but she decided to take off today, daring us to keep up after her.   It is fun to see how much personality she has developed since I met her for her newborn session last year.  Gotta love that little grin.

I met sweet little brother at his newborn session last fall, and I was excited for the chance to work with the family one last time before they move away this summer.   We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day or location to commemorate their time in Washington, DC.

We spent a lovely spring morning exploring the botanical gardens and captured some portraits of this adorable toddler and her mother.    The gardens were bursting with new life, including several families of geese.  We had to dodge one protective Mother Goose as her babies were trying to join in our photoshoot.

I’m so glad that I was able to fit this family in at the last minute with their sweet little newborn girl.  She was a saint for the entire session, sleeping through her brothers’ antics and our attempts to get real smiles from them.   She and her mom were just a joy to work with, and we had fun dressing her first baby girl up in lots of pretties.

It was so nice to see this sweet little girl again.  Today the phrase of the day was “No pictures, I’m not ready yet.”   She was very cleverly trying to evade having her portrait taken, but nevertheless we managed to sneak in another fun session.  We got to explore her Mimi’s yard and flowers and even check out the amazing wine cellar.

A girl and her pearls.  This sweet little 6-month-old was a big fan of the pearls her mom gave her for her photoshoot, bringing them from pose to pose.   I’m glad that despite a few tears at the session we were able to capture her smiles and adorable little face.

Our first attempt at this session got rained out, but luckily the rain cleared and we were able to reschedule while the grandparents were still in town.    We trekked around the gardens and found plenty of geese, ducks, turtles and fish along the way.    Isn’t baby girl just adorable in that little blue bubble?!

I was lucky enough to spend the morning of this little one’s first birthday with him and his mom.  I first photographed him nearly a year ago when he was a newborn and now he’s a busy little guy, exploring the fun stuff at our location.    His mom has some really fun ideas–with his cute little bow tie and blue birthday balloon.

This sweet little girl had the most dazzling blue eyes, which in her very serious mood this morning she was showing off quite beautifully.  I had met her big brothers a couple of years ago for their photoshoot and it was fun to get to meet their new little sister.

…Penn State!   I had the cutest little sports fan at the studio this morning.  Despite our best efforts to convince him to rest, he was intent on keeping his eyes open for the shots.  The upside to that is that he showed off his big eyes in many of his portraits.  He was also intent on reminding us why babies wear diapers ; )   And so dad can remember how much fun he had, one for the blooper reel:
