I’ve been lucky enough to photograph this little girl since she was just a few days old and now she’s a talkative, lively 3-year-old with a little sister on the way.  I look forward to seeing them again in a few weeks for their second newborn session!

The funny thing about women growing up and changing their names is that sometimes you don’t realize you already know someone until you see them in person.  The mom of this adorable little one-year-old was actually a sorority sister of mine and through all our emails back and forth to set up the session I didn’t realize we had known each other back in college.    It was fun chatting about our college days while capturing the smiles of their little blue-eyed cutie.

So what better way to spend Friday the 13th than with these adorable little redheads and their parents?   The baby was just at the perfect age to sit and smile for us, and big brother stepped in to join us for a few photos as well.  I thought it was cute how they are already chumming around like brothers.

I am so excited at how well this session worked out.  When I first spoke with this family, I thought we were a little crazy scheduling an outdoor session for mid-January.  But the boys were still home for the holiday break, so we had a small window of time to get the session in before everyone went back to work/school.   So today’s almost 60-degree weather was a blessing, and we had a wonderful morning creating some family portraits at the same location where mom and dad had done their wedding portraits years ago.  And a big thanks to my client who helped photograph the photographer so I could show off my new slate blue Ginger camera bag from Epiphanie.   It was just perfect for our trip downtown!

This sweet little newborn had the most perfect head of hair.   He was so interested in our photoshoot that he was wide-eyed and awake for most of the session.  But even when he was awake he sat calmly and posed for us.  Finally near the end of the session we managed to convince him to take a rest, and got some photos of sleepy baby as well.

It was nice to have an excuse to catch up with these folks while they were visiting from out of town.  I’ve known them since our pre-kid days when my husband and this dad used to work together.   In fact, I remember us having our matching Nikon DSLRs back in the day.   This was our second photoshoot together, and this time I got to meet their newest addition–a sweet 3-month-old son.   So glad we were able to fit in the session before they head back west!

I have been photographing this family for a few years now, and I was excited to learn last summer that they would be adding a new little sister this month.   Big sis was such a great helper at our session, doing everything from posing for pics to calming baby.   And baby sister was just the perfect little model.  I was able to catch some of her cute baby grins as well as some rare open eyes.  I had share the adorable flower sisters pose–that one was big sis’s idea, and I think they look so sweet.

Now that my holiday sessions are done and most portraits orders have been distributed, I can relax and enjoy the newborn sessions that I have scheduled for this month.  This was the first of the newbies: a little 9-day-old baby girl.   Her mom loved her in pink and frilly, so we had a lot of fun playing with accessories.

We had been trying to schedule this session for about a month–battling cold, wind, rain, and the business of life, and finally settled on this fine Monday at the end of the month, crossing our fingers that the weather would cooperate.  And cooperate it did, with nearly 70 degree temperatures and calm skies.   This was the perfect family to finish up my outdoor portrait season with–an beautiful baby girl and her adoring parents.

This mom is one of my oldest and dearest friends, and I was so excited at the prospect of photographing her handsome boys while I was up in Reading.   They are so cute–the older brother with his charming smile and bright blue eyes, and the younger brother with his adorable rosy cheeks.   It’s so fun to see them grow up!
