Garden Fairy

April 30, 2009

It was a gorgeous day for portraits at the botanical gardens.  Not a beautiful day for much else, but the clouds provided us with lovely soft light for this little garden fairy.   Even the garden staff had to stop and comment–saying that they had heard rumor of fairies in the garden and now they knew they were true!

Heat Wave!

April 27, 2009

It’s been unseasonably hot here– 90 degrees in April!  So what better way to beat the heat than a daytrip to the beach.  We took some photos of some cute vacation attire by Painted Butterfly Studio, and also some for an exciting new project with fabric designer Jennifer Paganelli that I will share a bit later.

A Boy’s Best Friend

And wow, this was a BIG dog!  But so sweet and very cautious around his little friend.   We had a really fun morning playing in the yard and grabbing smiles from this sweet-6-month-old.  I love photographing babies at this age.  Just look at his sweet toothless grin!

Take Two

mil5Here are a couple I didn’t get a chance to share from last weekend.  This sweet dog was the “jealous big brother” at the newborn session.  He tried to pop his head in all of the photos, so I finally let him be the star of his own!

Double Trouble ;)

April 21, 2009

Aw, no, seriously, what sweet little guys!  Yes, they did make me work hard for that basket shot, but it was totally worth it.  They are such perfect little men–identical twins.   I know their mom is terribly busy with her toddler and these little ones, so I’m so happy she was able to take the time to share them with me for a little while this morning!

In the Tulips

April 19, 2009

I was excited to work with another family who found me through the Celebrating Adoption program.   We were lucky enough to catch the tulips in bloom by Vienna’s Freeman House.    Mom did a fabulous job picking their clothes–I love the matching outfits on the girls, even down to the shoes!

Little Teddy

I recruited this little doll to help me try out some new props, and what a sweet little thing she is!  Two months old, but only tipping the scales at 8lbs.   The gorgeous cocoon is from Tricky Knits, and the little bear hat is from Beachwalkphoto.

Easter Family Photos

My parents were visiting for Easter, so we took this opportunity to take some family portraits of our own.  Here are a couple of the girls and one with their Pop Pop.  We also got some of me in front of the camera instead of behind!girls2

Painted Butterfly Studio

We received these beautiful mermaid dresses from Painted Butterfly Studio with matching bows from Bow a’la Mode and I just knew they had to be modeled at the beach.  Of course, we don’t live terribly close to the beach, so it was a little excursion for us.  The location is Chesapeake Beach, on the Maryland’s western shore of the Chesapeake Bay.  It’s only about an hour drive from Vienna.   It was much too cold for the water, but the girls had fun running barefoot on the beach and playing in the sand.

I was super excited to meet this little girl this morning– she is the 6-day-old daughter of some wonderful friends.  It’s great to get them in the studio so young because they’re so easy to work with.  She was just a doll, and I enjoyed spending the morning with her mommy, daddy, and grandmother.
