Flower Pot, Take 2

December 21, 2010

My first “flower pot baby” was back in the studio, now as a big sister!  Just for fun we decided to try to recreate the pot photo with little sis, and look how cute it turned out!   Big sister wasn’t in the mood to smile for photos until her baby peed on mom and dad, and that was enough to get a cute look out of her : )

**

Just a quick note that Veralana Photography will be closed from Thursday December 23rd until January 2nd.  I may pop in with a holiday greeting or two, but I will not be scheduling new sessions or taking orders during this time, as I will be spending some much-needed time with my family after this busy holiday portrait season.

Fancy Nancies!

December 16, 2010

The girls had great fun playing the part of Fancy Nancy in these storybook-inspired dresses by Ollie Girl!.  They love the stories about Nancy who loves to play dress up and use big “fancy” words.   The dresses are just perfectly whimsical and made of cotton so they aren’t itchy, which is important to my little dress-up girls.

Brrr.

December 13, 2010

If you’re one of my followers on Facebook you may recognize this little girl from my profile photo.  (and if you’re not a follower, then by all means, go over and join in! ; ) ).  Here she is, a year later.   It was a chilly afternoon when we went out to do these photos, but she was a real trooper, and still smiling and laughing.   I’ve known her for years, since she and my oldest were in a playgroup together as preschoolers and it’s amazing to see the girls growing up.

Sleepy Six-Day Old

December 11, 2010

I was so excited to meet this little cutie–her big sister is a friend of my daughter’s and her mom and I have been talking about this newborn session for several months.   I just loved her beautiful full head of almost black hair.  She was so easy to work with, sleepy and easy to pose for most of the session.   And I was even able to grab a few shots with her proud big brother, who did a great job holding her!

Holiday Cheer

December 8, 2010

It’s that time of year again…the once a year that I offer digiminis.  They are special 15-minute sessions designed for clients who just need a holiday card photo.   Several repeat clients took me up on my special sessions and I had fun working with these little guys again.   I just love their holiday clothes and adorable smiles.  What better way to spread holiday cheer : )

11 Days Old

December 4, 2010

This little guy was definitely one of the most easy-going newborns I’ve ever had the chance to work with.  He was happy to sleep through the session and let us pose him however we liked.   It’s been a busy week with newborns–he was the 4th one I’ve photographed this week, with one more who arrived today and will be in the studio next week.

Tiny x 2

December 2, 2010

These twins were just the sweetest little newborns!  They both were so cooperative (not always at the same time, but that’s to be expected) and just such adorable little peanuts.   At over 3 weeks old they are still tinier than most newborns I’ve worked with, and had the most petite little hands and feet.  I went to their home for this session so we even got to do a family photo in from of one of their gorgeously decorated Christmas trees.

Six Months Later

November 30, 2010

When I first met this family last summer, they had an 18-month-old daughter, and now not quite 6 months later, they have added a new baby girl to their family.    It was fun to compare then vs. now for big sis, especially since the little chair pose was one of her favorites from both sessions.  Her new baby sister was just the perfect newborn for our session, sleeping through most the entire shoot and letting me easily pose her.

Two Little Penguins

November 24, 2010

This little newbie was bright-eyed for most of our session.   At two weeks old, she definitely had gotten past new-baby-who-sleeps-all-day stage and was wanting to look around and interact with the world around her.  This, of course, makes for a little more work on the part of the parents at the session (at some point I mentioned to dad that I think this qualified as his gym visit for the day!), but the upside is that we got cute open-eyed portraits along with the sleepy poses.   I just love the penguin and matching booties they brought along–both were handmade with love by her grandmother.
