Little Tapper and Ballerinas

dancers-combined

I love recital season–the culmination of a year worth of learning and rehearsals.  And a photographer mommy’s chance to get the girls in the studio in some cute costumes.   I find that my girls enjoy their sessions much more when they have friends there, so I recruited a few dance classmates to join us for our little shoot.

Family of Eight

I met this fellow photographer through another shared interest–Girl Scout leader training.   In addition to leading her daughter’s troop, she runs her own business and a household with six kids!   I was flattered when she asked me to do some family portraits for her, and we had a lot of fun this morning with the whole crew.

Bright Eyes

Yesterday I go to work with a second Celebrating Adoption family.    I couldn’t have asked for a more cooperative and charming little subject for our short session.    His mom was laughing about how much of a flirt he was with me and some of the other passersby!

Sister Sets

I just love these little girls’ outfits.  Mom brought the cutest coordinating sets for the girls for their portraits at the botanical gardens.   It was so fun to see how much they have grown since their session in the studio lat fall.

Home with Mom and Dad

I’m so happy that this lovely family invited me to celebrate the adoption of their son with family portraits.  As a participating photographer in the Celebrating Adoption program, I get to meet a lot of families who have recently adopted children and see the joy that their children bring to them.  This little guy definitely brought a sparkle to mom and dad’s eye at our session.  They appreciated his every noise and expression, and really reminded me how amazing a gift parenting can be!

Holistic Health Coach

Curious what a holistic health coach offers?  Go check out Kristy’s site (www.ksrwellness.com) and find out more about how she helps her clients achieve a healthy lifestyle.   I loved having the opportunity to work with her for photos for her soon-to-be facelifted site.  Just talking with her and photographing her yoga poses was enough inspiration to want to check out the yoga classes at the gym!

I got to hang out with this sweet little 18-month-old this morning.  Keeping that full head of blond hair in order during the session proved to be a bit of a challenge, but what a cutie she is!   I love how the blue clothes her mom picked out brought out her blue eyes.

Ship’s Captain

As promised this sweet little girl came back for some portraits without mom and dad, and you’re probably wondering if I’m off my rocker with the post title “Ship’s Captain”.  Well despite her pretty hairbow and dry-clean-only dress, this little cutie loved playing pirate ship with me, and was quite the little actress.   Here is a little snap from “nighttime” on the boat, where the captain needed to catch some shut-eye, and then a shot on land where she’s searching for food.   These clovers will make a yummy salad!

Surreal Day

I rarely get into Washington, DC for photoshoots, but every time I do I have so much fun and I think I really should do it more often.   This family asked for some portraits near the Capitol, and as luck would have it, the storms blew through right before our session and left us with a beautiful slightly cloudy and temperate afternoon that was perfect for portraits.

Like August in June

I can’t believe how hot it was this morning, even at 7:30 in the morning!  It’s a good thing we got an early start because the weather seems to be more like August than June this week.   But what a great way to start the morning with an adorable baby and her busy big brother.   I am absolutely loving that father daughter image, and even though the kids have got their serious faces on in that last one, I love how great the family looks together.  Kudos to mom for coordinating the outfits so nicely.
