When I first met this family last summer, they had an 18-month-old daughter, and now not quite 6 months later, they have added a new baby girl to their family. It was fun to compare then vs. now for big sis, especially since the little chair pose was one of her favorites from both sessions. Her new baby sister was just the perfect newborn for our session, sleeping through most the entire shoot and letting me easily pose her.

This little newbie was bright-eyed for most of our session. At two weeks old, she definitely had gotten past new-baby-who-sleeps-all-day stage and was wanting to look around and interact with the world around her. This, of course, makes for a little more work on the part of the parents at the session (at some point I mentioned to dad that I think this qualified as his gym visit for the day!), but the upside is that we got cute open-eyed portraits along with the sleepy poses. I just love the penguin and matching booties they brought along–both were handmade with love by her grandmother.

How cute is this little 6-monther? He has two older sisters, so his family is enjoying having a boy this time around. They even brought this adorable little toy truck for him to sit in for the shoot.

This little cutie was back in the studio and looking adorable in her holiday best. I can’t believe how much bigger she has gotten since her last session in April:

I got an email from this little guy’s mom just yesterday asking if I could fit in another newborn session. She mentioned that he was already 2 weeks old, and it just happened that I had a cancellation for this morning, so I was able to fit them in just in time. The parents warned me that he’s not a big daytime sleeper, but with a little patience we were able to get him to relax for some sleepy poses as well as some open eyed shots.

It’s fun when I can do a session on the little one’s actual birthday. This little birthday girl turned one yesterday and she came decked out in her birthday princess finery! Both she and her sister enjoyed dancing around in their frilly tutus. In fact, the little one was much more interested in practicing her walking than posing for photos–but that’s par for the course for one-year-olds. Big sister was so much fun–I even caught her trying on mom’s boots!

This little guy was in such fine spirits for our photoshoot yesterday. He and mom arrived a little before dad, and he just had a blast exploring and playing while we were waiting for dad. He certainly kept us moving, but the foggy morning provided nice soft light, so we didn’t have to worry so much about keeping him in one spot and could let him roam.

Just look at the full head of curls on this two-year-old! I worked with him and his family last year when he was just a few months old, and he didn’t have the curls yet. It was so fun to see how much he’s grown. He’s gone from the baby on the blanket (in the photo below) to a playful toddler who loves his football, soccer, and baseball toys.

Gotta love the baby rolls! This little guy had adorable chunky arms and legs, and just look at those cute little toes. We had to work hard, but we did get to see his happy smiles.

I couldn’t resist adding a few extra previews from this session so I could include the tiniest member of the family, an 8-week-old little pup. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day for the session, and their own front yard made a great setting for the portraits.
