Strawberry Girl

March 25, 2012

Caught my sweet girl looking up while she was modeling this afternoon.  I miss doing these modeling shoots!  Look for her strawberry outfit by Blu Moon Design during the Sparkle Boutique Launch on April 4.  A portion of the proceeds from the launch benefit Layla Grace Cancer Research Foundation.

Fancy Nancies!

December 16, 2010

The girls had great fun playing the part of Fancy Nancy in these storybook-inspired dresses by Ollie Girl!.  They love the stories about Nancy who loves to play dress up and use big “fancy” words.   The dresses are just perfectly whimsical and made of cotton so they aren’t itchy, which is important to my little dress-up girls.

Modeling on the Beach

November 15, 2009

lilo3ariel10ariel3ariel1

We just got back from a week in the sunny Caribbean, cruising with Mickey.   We brought some brand new Ollie Girl designs with us to model on the beach.   Now we’re back in Virginia and I’m spending time getting caught up on everything I missed.  Thank you to my wonderful clients for your patience while I was gone!

Mini Mary Poppins

August 25, 2009

maryp1maryp2maryp4My little model had a blast parading around the park in her Mary Poppins dress by Ollie Girl!.   It’s such a gorgeous design, and the dress is made entirely of soft cotton fabric.

Lil’ Princess

This tiny princess-in-training was the perfect little model for my new pink crown hat.   I admitted to the parents that I have a little bit of a newborn hat addiction, and I love having the excuse to buy them for my sessions.   This was a fun session to come back to after my vacation–mom and dad were such great sports and their little gal was such a little cutie, with the most adorable snorts *wink*.

Birthday Photoshoot

May 27, 2009

birthday1birthday2pastel1

In honor of my youngest’s birthday today, I grabbed the girls for some portraits in the studio.  The adorable birthday tutu set was a find a our local town fair last weekend.  The gals who sell them also have a website that’s totally worth checking out if you’re in the market for well-made tutus or bling tees:  Glitterbug Ballerina.   And while I was focused on getting pictures of the birthday girl, my older daughter grabbed one of my studio pettis, and my studio-mate’s blue chair, and came up with her own pose.   I love the pastel combo she came up with!

Heat Wave!

April 27, 2009

whale5-wmwhale3-wm1

It’s been unseasonably hot here– 90 degrees in April!  So what better way to beat the heat than a daytrip to the beach.  We took some photos of some cute vacation attire by Painted Butterfly Studio, and also some for an exciting new project with fabric designer Jennifer Paganelli that I will share a bit later.

We have been waiting for the weather to warm up so we could head outside and do some photos of this gorgeous cotton princess dress by Ollie Girl. I love her calico princesses, and this is one of her special line of “pixie dust” dresses.

My eBook has launched!

May 31, 2007

I’m very excited to announce that my first eBook has been published and is now available for sale on youcanmakethis.com!
The book, Capturing Children’s Clothing: A Photographer’s Guide, discusses how to prepare for a shoot, tips for working with child models, advice for how to capture the best images on your shoot, and photo selection and editing.

In this book I share what I have learned about taking photos of children’s clothing and accessories. It is targeted at the amateur photographer who wants to be able to take better photos without a making a large financial investment. I’ve always been willing to give free advice for fellow photographers, and am still willing to, but I wanted to also offer a comprehensive resource for people who want to work to improve their modeling photos.
