Four going on Five

How fun are these little guys? My favorite triplets were back for their 2-year portraits with big sister who just turned 4. Look how much they’ve grown since our session last year:

Share on FacebookWe visited Williamsurg last month while everything was beautifully decorated for the holidays. As we explored Colonial Williamsburg, my girls and I undertook a little project to make their grandparents a calendar with photos of them in front of the decorations. I wanted to wait until we gave the gifts to share, so here they are! These were all taken with my Canon S90 point-and-shoot camera. I will be back next week with some new session previews when I start up my sessions for this year.
Share on FacebookMy first “flower pot baby” was back in the studio, now as a big sister! Just for fun we decided to try to recreate the pot photo with little sis, and look how cute it turned out! Big sister wasn’t in the mood to smile for photos until her baby peed on mom and dad, and that was enough to get a cute look out of her : )

Just a quick note that Veralana Photography will be closed from Thursday December 23rd until January 2nd. I may pop in with a holiday greeting or two, but I will not be scheduling new sessions or taking orders during this time, as I will be spending some much-needed time with my family after this busy holiday portrait season.
Share on FacebookIf you’re one of my followers on Facebook you may recognize this little girl from my profile photo. (and if you’re not a follower, then by all means, go over and join in! ; ) ). Here she is, a year later. It was a chilly afternoon when we went out to do these photos, but she was a real trooper, and still smiling and laughing. I’ve known her for years, since she and my oldest were in a playgroup together as preschoolers and it’s amazing to see the girls growing up.
Share on FacebookThese twins were just the sweetest little newborns! They both were so cooperative (not always at the same time, but that’s to be expected) and just such adorable little peanuts. At over 3 weeks old they are still tinier than most newborns I’ve worked with, and had the most petite little hands and feet. I went to their home for this session so we even got to do a family photo in from of one of their gorgeously decorated Christmas trees.
Share on FacebookThis little newbie was bright-eyed for most of our session. At two weeks old, she definitely had gotten past new-baby-who-sleeps-all-day stage and was wanting to look around and interact with the world around her. This, of course, makes for a little more work on the part of the parents at the session (at some point I mentioned to dad that I think this qualified as his gym visit for the day!), but the upside is that we got cute open-eyed portraits along with the sleepy poses. I just love the penguin and matching booties they brought along–both were handmade with love by her grandmother.
Share on FacebookThis is the 4th year in a row I’ve had the chance to work with this family for their portraits. You may remember this little guy on the tire swing from last year’s session. This year we tried another new location and lucked out with a gorgeous morning. Here’s a look back at how he’s grown ; )
Share on FacebookI was having fun “virtually” shopping for family outfits, and thought I would try another of my favorite color combinations: orange and brown. I just love the little baby romper from Hanna!
Share on FacebookI loved the purples that the last family I photographed came in and I decided to put together some family outfit planning ideas using purples. I’m loving purple and gray this year, and as a new twist, I tried purple as an accent with greens and browns. As I usually advise my clients, it’s best to start with one item and plan a color palette of two or three colors around it. The first set of outfits was inspired by the woman’s corsage cardigan from Talbots that I saw featured on their mailer. The second set of outfits saw inspired by the pretty purple Gymboree sweater dress. My daughter has this dress, and it photographs beautifully.
Share on FacebookInstead of my regular happy kid blog posts I thought I would throw together some outtakes from the session, just for fun. This little guy was full of fun expressions, and these are some that I snapped while waiting for the real smiles to come out. At 10 months old, this little guy was busy crawling, cruising, and exploring. And just to show that our patience paid off, here are a few of the happy faces:
