These little cuties are definitely a handful. But when they turn on the charm, they have the most adorable smiles. And I just love the baby curls!

Share on FacebookWell she’s a lot of work, but what fun is having puppy if you don’t get cute photos, LOL. My little one is now 6 months old, and slowing learning the ropes. She’s pretty good at “sit” and “fetch” but she’s a little Houdini and can escape from any collar or fenced area. Here are some shots I managed to grab in the yard–first is with the promise of a treat, and the second is her wannabe frisbee-dog pose. She’s up to 10 lbs (we got her at 9) and looks like she’s probably soon done growing.
Share on FacebookIn honor of Earth Day, I thought I would share an idea for an easy, Earth-friendly way to perk up someone’s day. To create my super-simple centerpiece, I took a few clippings from my blooming azalea bush and popped them in what used to be an Honest Tea bottle from the recycle bin. Add a ribbon from around the house, and voila, you have a pretty little bouquet to give as a gift, or brighten up your own table.
Share on FacebookThings have been a little crazy around here this past week because our family has a new addition–meet Lucy, the Affenpoo. She’s 4 months old and 9lbs right now, and will probably remain a small dog. Affenpoos (for those who are curious, LOL) are a type of “designer dog” with 2 purebred parents of different breeds, in this case an Affenpinscher and a miniature poodle. They are said to be good with children and good family pets. It has been so fun seeing her experience the world outside for the first time. She is curious about every smell and every noise.
I sometimes get questions about pet portraits, and I am happy to include your family pets in your family portrait sessions outdoors or in your homes. We do not do pet portraits in the studio. And if you want individual portraits of you pet, while I certainly can do them for you, I recommend considering someone who specializes in pet photography. I think the best photographers are not generalists, but specialists in a particular area. Some do beautiful landscapes, but have no idea how to work with children. Others do stunning senior portraits but don’t have the right equipment to photograph weddings. So for pet photography in the DC area, I recommend Bev Hollis, who has a wonderful and unique style for capturing pets in beautiful settings.
Share on FacebookI got to meet this little guy last August for his newborn session, and today he was back with mom and dad and big brother. It was so nice to have a sitter in the studio after a string of busy one-year-olds, and this little guy was in that perfect [for photos] stage where he can sit unassisted and not yet crawling or walking.
Share on FacebookI’m excited to share the newest cover of Fairfax Woman Magazine March/April Edition, featuring my image. You can grab a free copy at Metro stations and grocery stores around the Fairfax County area. These ballerinas were just a joy to work with. I also got to do some individual images of their poses and headshots, which will be part of their feature article.
Share on FacebookAlmost 2 years ago I shot a newborn session for this family’s sweet little girl, and this weekend they were back with their newest addition for another session. We had a lot of fun with props this time around, trying out my newest hat from Etsy (the sock monkey), and my teddy bear basket. And of course the football image–it was totally an afterthought, we just grabbed the football in the studio and gave it a try at the very end of the session, but I think it turned out adorably!
Here’s a quick look back at his little sis when she was his age:
Share on FacebookNeed headshots for acting, professional publications or websites? The cold winter months are a great time to update your headshots. My professional headshot package includes a 15 minute session and 2 full resolution fully retouched digital images for $150.
Share on FacebookToday is Tai Shan’s last day in Washington, DC, and the girls and I will be sad to see him go. He is being sent back to China as part of the agreement the zoo has about any panda born here at the zoo. To send him off, the girls made goodbye cards for him this afternoon (note the chopsticks in A’s card–she said he is going to China so be might need them, LOL )
He is just a tad younger than Vera, and we were there at the zoo on the day he debuted to the public. As I remember, there wasn’t much to see, just a little black and white in the indoor panda habitat (see below right). But I had tiny A. in a stroller and tinier V. strapped on a baby carrier backback, and we braved the freezing temperatures to be among the first in line to meet the baby panda.
Over the past few years, the pandas have been our favorite destination at the zoo, and we certainly got into the panda-monium. A. still sleeps every night with “pandy”, the stuffed animal she got when she received the panda “adopt and animal” package for Christmas. Here is A. back in 2006 with all of the panda goodies at the gift kiosk. I *loved* that dress!
So we wish you safe travels and a happy life in China, our dear Tai Shan. We will miss you!
Share on FacebookI had the honor of working with musician Andy Colon to create the images for his debut album. I am so excited to see (and hear!) how the album turns out. These are some sneak peeks, and I will post again with a link to his album when it is released.
