It is always so much fun to see my former newborn clients growing up to be the big brothers and sisters. I just loved the curls on this big sister, and enjoyed seeing her parents again. Little brother decided her wanted to be awake for most of his session (despite being only a little over a week old!) but was such a cooperative poser nevertheless.

I met this family a little over a year ago when I did newborn portraits for their older son. This time around there were two little guys, as adorable as ever. Mom brought the cutest little outfits and hats for them to wear. We were even able to reproduce big brother’s adorable baseball pose.

We had a fun smash the cake/1st birthday session this afternoon with the daughter of a good friend. Her mom brought a ton of fun props and she was one happy little girl playing around in the studio.

We had an unseasonable snow this morning during this extended family session. Since the sweet little girl had snowflakes on her tights and is a big fan of Frozen and Queen Elsa, so we joked that she was like Elsa and brought the snow. While in reality she might not have Elsa’s magical powers, she did have a princess smile and lots of charm. I had done maternity and newborn portraits when her big brother was born and then just recently had done newborn portraits for their cousin. Today they all came together with Nana for some pre-Thanksgiving portraits.

Seriously, how well dressed are these little girls?! Little sis is only 2 months old, but was awake the whole session and fully engaged. Big sister looked adorable in her fancy dress and enjoyed trying out my selection of little chairs.

Thanks to my amazing friend, the very talented and patient Jessica Moore, I was able to step in front of my own camera for a few portraits with my family this weekend. If Jessica weren’t so talented at her own career in government relations, she would certainly have a future in photography. My own crew is not as amenable as you might think to having their photos taken (ever heard of photographer’s child syndrome?), but in the end we got both the nice portraits I shared here, and some hilarious outtakes. Since they always complain about being cold by the time we get around to our portraits, I decided to embrace the cold this year and plan our outfits with coats and tall boots. That worked out reasonably well for us, despite the occasional complaint about tight collars and itchy wool. I’m glad to have this “to do” checked off my own list, and now just need to pick which one of the thousands of cards I’m going to use from Minted or Tiny Prints this year.

After two chilly outdoor sessions this past weekend I was back in the cozy studio for this fun family photoshoot. It was nice to see them again after a few years, this time as a family of four.

I met up with these friends for my second session of the day, and another chilly one. But we enjoyed the fall color and great scenery and dodged the other two photographers who shooting families at the same location.

What a fun spot for our photoshoot this morning. It was a chilly day but these little guys were troopers and had fun out on the docks while getting some family portraits that helped capture their love of sailing.

We had to make a quick change of locations for our mini-session this morning when we discovered that last weekend’s winds had brought down most of the leaves. In the end, we were able to find a few remaining colorful leaves on this beautiful fall morning.
